Low-cost airlines or low cost carriers (LCC), PT Mandala Airlines, plans to open new routes from Jakarta to Australia in May-June 2013. "We're trying to open a route from Jakarta to Australia by plane itself," said Commercial Director Mandala Airlines, Brata Rafly, at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Thursday, March 14, 2013.
Addition route overseas destination Australia, said Brata, is one of the Mandala's commitment to be a LCC airline that can serve the Asia Pacific routes. Besides Australia, they plan to open routes of Asia, such as Hong Kong.

For this year, Mandala plans to add 10 new routes. Some of the new route is Jakarta-Bangkok, Jakarta-Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta-Medan, Jakarta-Padang and Jakarta-Surabaya. In addition to the route from Jakarta, Mandala also will serve the route Surabaya-Kuala Lumpur-Singapore and Surabaya and Denpasar, Surabaya.
