Former Finance Director of PT Merpati Nusantara Airlines, Mohammad Roem, said the airline was not able to cover operating costs. "It's load factor rose, the loss was Rp 500 million to Rp 1.5 billion," he said in the House Basarnas, Thursday, March 7, 2013.
Roem explained, when he became director, he was guided by the accounting reports to see the comparison between operating costs and revenues. In the financial statements, Merpati still losing money so it can not cover operating costs. He called Merpati president director, Rudy Setyopurnomo, the airline had announced a profit of Rp 500 million per day.
Roem said Rudy has written a memo to the actual loss to Merpati still unable to cover operating costs. He was removed from the board of directors declared Pigeons without clarity. He argued that due to the proximity of Rudy with the Ministry of State Owned Enterprises (SOEs). "I was forced to resign," he said.
