Subsidiary Lion Air, Malindo Air, Start Operation

Deputy Transport Minister Datuk Abdul Rahim Bakri Malaysia launched the new hybrid airline, Air Malindo, at Kuala Lumpur International Airport. He said the flight route Kuala Lumpur-Kota Kinabalu to encourage tourism activities to Sabah. "Hopefully, the number of visitors could reach 1.87 million," he said in an official statement, Monday, March 25, 2013.


He explained Malindo Air plans to make Kota Kinabalu as a second hub. So, he said, there will be direct access to Sabah from Indonesia, Korea, Japan, and China. It was thought that Bakri could increase investment in the country and create jobs.

Water Malindo operate using Boeing 737-900ER. 'We are proud to be the first airline to fly using the 737-900 ER in Malaysia, "said Chief Executive Officer Malindo Water, Tama Muty Chandran. The airline offers a hybrid concept, through business class and economy.

Malindo Water is a member of Lion Group. The airline is opening scheduled flights across the Malaysia and Asia. The airline plans to fly the 100 aircraft in the next 10 years.

In addition, Malindo Air will begin serving the route with a travel time of more than 5 hour flight from the capital city of Malaysia.
